Monterey County High Schools are invited to present the film War of the Limelight to their student body. Students interested in learning how HARA creates original movies with teenagers are invited to attend a free Saturday filmmaking workshop. Students can sign up on (ACTIVE NETWORK LINK) to participate in a unique 4-hour filmmaking workshop (limit 30 students per workshop). The curriculum is designed to give students an exciting introduction to film crew positions, acting for the screen, and accelerated script-to-screen film production. Small groups will be guided to develop a cinematic story based on a topic they choose based on: what do you believe is the most important social action today? Through a guided democratic process, small-groups will choose a story to film that day. Students will self-select a cast or crew role and fulfill their role in a step-by-step filmmaking process guided by the experienced teaching team. A short cinematic video will be the product of each workshop. In partnership with UpToGood.org, the video will be posted on their online platform to engage with a worldwide audience. The Spring 2017 workshops are generously funded by the Arts Council for Monterey County.
